Once again this year, the Festival will highlight the Breast Cancer Survivor (BCS) teams with with a carnation ceremony, to show support for these courageous and spirited athletes. A new feature of the ceremony will be the Snapdragon Poetry Competition for the best poem about breast cancer. The competition is open to all. The first prize is $150 and reading in the Carnation Ceremony. For more details, please go to Snapdragonsdc.com website
The carnation ceremony is one in which carnations are tossed into the water, by those who have fought, or know someone who has fought, breast cancer. It is a way to recognize and honor those people.
The BCS Carnation ceremony will be held this year, on Saturday May 15th, at 8:30AM, in front of Thompson Boat Center.
